Paprika is a garden vegetable consisting of a stem and fruits which differ in size and colour: from small and round to big and round, bubble-shaped, horn-shaped or pointed paprikas; from dark green, light green, yellow, orange to red paprikas. They can also vary in taste and may be sweet, medium-hot or hot. This useful and, above everything, nutritive vegetable was brought to Europe in the 15th century by the Spanish. Later, it spread through Africa to Turkey and Hungary. There are about 50 different sorts of paprika in the world today.
